Celebrating International Women’s Day
The Primrose Foundation are Empowering Women in the Fight Against Breast Cancer on International Women’s Day.
Each year on 8th March, the world celebrates International Women’s Day, a global occasion to honour the achievements of women. This year, The Primrose Foundation, a leading breast cancer charity in Plymouth, is highlighting the amazing role of women in advancing breast cancer awareness, support, and care across Plymouth, West Devon and East Cornwall.
Women at the Heart of Breast Cancer Care
Breast cancer is a disease that mainly affects women, making International Women’s Day an ideal moment to shine a light on the strength and resilience of women with breast cancer and breast disease. The Primrose Foundation aims to empower local women by supporting them in their fight against breast disease. Each year approximately 27,000 local women use the breast care services at The Primrose Breast Care Centre and of these, 550 breast cancers are diagnosed.
Many of the healthcare providers at The Primrose Breast Care Centre are women who play an integral role in shaping the future of breast cancer treatment and our charity is proud to work and support these wonderful women and commitment to improving female health.
The Primrose Foundation’s Contributions to Women’s Health
As a dedicated supporter of people affected by breast cancer and breast disease in Plymouth, West Devon, and East Cornwall, The Primrose Foundation focuses how best to help women with breast disease and cancer.
Supporting the Enhancement of Early Detection: By funding advanced diagnostic technologies and health promotion the Foundation helps to assist in identifying and raising the importance of finding breast cancer as early as possible.
Providing Emotional and Practical Support: Specialist breast care nurses, radiographers and mammographers supported by The Primrose Foundation offer compassionate care. Our charity offers patients opportunities to feedback about their experiences so we can support them further.
Campaigning for Awareness: Through campaigns and events, the Foundation helps women understand the importance of regular screenings and self-examinations. Make sure you LOVE yourself enough to be breast aware.
